The Loreley (Loreleyfelsen), the rock where culture meets entertainment, is lying in the centre of the middle Rhine valley, a World Heritage Site.
The landscape arround the Loreley Rock has been nominated to become World Heritage Site already in 1973. After nearly 30 years the nomination has been accepted on 28. June 2002 and the valley of the Lorley officially became World Heritage Site.
On one hand this is a tribute and a compliment to the beautiful scenery, the natural and cultural beauty of the landscape on the other hand a challenge for the forthcoming organization of this peerless open air theatre.
There are many romantic fand fairytale towns, palaces and castles along the River Rhine which are worth a visit. The mystic scenery is surrounded by countless legends, attracting about 20 million tourists every year. Hundreds of thousands of visitors attended the events during the last 30 years at the Rock Of Culture & Entertainment, the Loreley open air theatre..
From Genesis via Rock Palace (see history) to events like ABBAMANIA or festivals like Night oft he Prog, international stars like David Bowie, Iggy Popp, U2, Joan Baez, R.E.M., Fish, Jack Johnson, Roger Hodgson and national stars like Udo Lindenberg, Nina Hagen, Herbert Grönemeyer, Xavier Naidoo or Tokio Hotel complete the wide range of using this legendary venue.
The capacity is variable, everything from 1.500 up to 18.000 people is possible.
